Discovery Institute is a modified Therapeutic Community delivering a wide variety of assessment, clinical, and case management services in the following levels of care:
Long-term residential treatment (4-6 months)
Short-term residential treatment (1-3 months)
Intensive Outpatient treatment (IOP)
Outpatient treatment (OP)
Family Services (Assessment, Education, Therapy)

Counselor/Coordinator Position:
o Responsible for: group counseling, individual counseling, documentation, and family services, utilizing DOH, CARF, and ASAM criteria.
o Knowledge of addictions, the criminal justice system, psychiatric diagnosis/medications/treatment, and crisis intervention.
o Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree (preferred) from an accredited college or university in a related field of study. CADC/LCADC preferred. Experience conducting group sessions, individual counseling, and family sessions preferred.

Provide counseling services to clients; intake assessment and ongoing assessment for program eligibility, monitoring all aspects of care and client services, and ensuring that the needs of clients are met.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT MAY NOT BE LIMITED TO:
•Providing alcohol and substance abuse counseling in individual and group formats;
•Facilitating Cognitive Behavioral Workshops/Classes;
•Developing a comprehensive plan of care that meets the needs of the clients;
•Providing clients with information on community and agency services to
address their needs and make the appropriate referrals;
•Educating clients on all areas related to program participation including rights and
responsibilities;
•Utilizing case management skills to broker, advocate, plan, monitor and link clients and their families to resources;
•Working closely with clients to develop care plans to meet client needs.
•Scheduling and/or participating in Case Conferences with clients/caregivers;
•Providing discharge plans to ensure that clients needs can be met post release;
•Maintaining physical files for clients in accordance with established guidelines;
•Ensuring that all services are supported by documentation;.
•Ensuring that all stipulations are met by each client assigned to the caseload;
•Ensuring that the duties of this position are performed in accordance with established standards, and
•Performing other work related duties as assigned by the Senior Counselor or Director.
