Description: |
The responsibilities of licensed nursing personnel shall include the provision of nursing care to clients in a community setting in accordance with NJ Nursing Practice Act NJSA 45:11-23 as interpreted by the NJ State Board of Nursing. Registered nurse shall be responsible for:
The triage and assessment of nursing care needs of clients.
Administration and control of medications.
The maintenance of the clients medical orders by MD
Documentation on nursing notes of all clients seen for medical services.
Documentation of medications administered shall include:
- the name and strength of the medication
- the date and time of administration
- the dosage administered
- the method of administration
- signature of the nurse administering the medication
Overseeing or conduction referrals to local health care facilities for clients follow-up care.
Documentation of daily reports on activities and services provided at the Medical Department.
Administering pregnancy tests on all female clients on admission, and urine analysis through use of chemstick upon admission of each client.
The intake process which includes collecting medical history information, allergies, vital signs and preparing chart and client for physical exam by the MD.
Provision of dietary and nutritional counseling.
Provision of prevention education related to Aids, Substance Abuse and Pregnancy,
The promotion of disease prevention through client teaching of healthy lifestyles.
Other duties as assigned within the scope of Nursing Practice.
