Welcome
to the Mental Health Division
The Mental Health Division of the Certification Board was recently
established to provide a special focus on this important component of the field.
The Certification Board offers the Community Mental Health Associate
(CMHA), an entry level credential for mental health counselors who
have graduated from the Mental Health Association for New Jersey’s
Consumer Connection Training. This 90 hour Training Course is offered
at various locations throughout the state and is focused on mental health consumers who
are interested in entering the mental health and addictions field. It is also open
to non-counselors with a bachelors degree having a Human Service
focus. There is also a Co-Occurring Disorder (COD) endorsement
option that requires a specific 36 hour training that is also available
to any credentialed addictions counselor.
The Certification Board
has added several new members with a substantial Mental Health
and Addictions background:
- Jonathon Krecji PhD
Director of Training and Research at Princeton House
- Susan Adbudato,
PhD
Professor of Psychiatry at UMDNJ
- Frank Garris (CMHA, CDA)
