Notes
April 2009
The
Newsletter for the Certification Board Inc. and the
Institute
for Behavioral and Addiction Studies, Inc
|
The Institute
is offering what we hope will be a quarterly renewal series for
the many licensed and certified counselors, prevention
practicers,supervisors and other specialists.
Not only will
these trainings taught by university level instructors,
but will also
give us a chance to network, an activity that the field sorely misses.
While you might
not be familiar with the Sayreville Training site, you will find the
directions are easy to follow and will like the comfortable
training amphitheater. We are very grateful to Middlesex County for
allowing us to use this site.

Great
SAC News from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey!
RSCNJ
has just completed the plans for the transition of the NJ SAC
certification program from Georgian Court to Stockton, with the same
team of excellent faculty members, Ed Reading, Barry Ward, Norm Salt,
and Patti Gianotti. The 21 credit Masters level program will be taught
in a blended format of 5 6-hour Saturday classes coupled with
interactive online classes over the 5 week period.
The face-to-face classes will take place at the
Ocean County College Southern Education Center in Manahawkin.
The first course, PSYC 5181 Fundamentals of Substance Abuse, begins on
Sat., April 4.
In addition to meeting the requirements of the DoE, completion of the
SAC program also satisfied the coursework for:
approximately
2/3 of 270 hours for the CADC/LCADC. We are in the process of
developing two undergraduate courses that we will submit for approval
to satisfy the remaining content and contact hours.
MaryPat
Braudis will be administering the SAC program, in collaboration with
our School of Education. We are delighted to be growing and expanding
our Addictions Professionals Training program in south Jersey and to be
able to offer this high quality graduate certification program in our
region.
Our immediate goal now is to register a critical mass of students into
the program so that we can, in fact, get started in April. If
there are any avenues for getting the word out through the
Certification Board, we would greatly appreciate your help
in spreading the news. The link to the program website is:
Stockton SAC program. You can also link to the program through the
Stockton Graduate Studies website, www.stockton.edu/grad under 'Academic
Programs'.
