As you know, the Board has suffered a 50% reduction in staff due to budget cuts. We are providing all of the services we have in the past, albeit at a slower turnaround time. Distance Learning Center has Exam Preparation Manuals for sale! Study Guides or Manuals for the Oral (CPM)and Written IC&RC Exams.  Recertification credits for most Addiction Professionals Certification Board, Inc credentials. Please refer to specific recertification requirements. The Written Exam - Getting Ready to Test: The Written Examination. Packed into the 82 pages is a 100 item practice exam, strategies and multiple-choice test taking tips. The Oral Exam - Getting Ready to Test: The Oral Examination. 88 pages discusses how to choose an effective case presentation and how to write it up. Using this manual helps eliminate the surprises usually associated with the oral exam. Getting Ready to Test: A Review/Prepartation Manual for Drug and Alcohol Credentialing Exams. At 706 pages it contains a practice test, test strategies and what to expect on the oral exam. The next Written & Oral Exam Preparation Courses are being offered in September and November. Counselor's Meeting - Saturday Morning - October 11th! The first counselors meeting was held on July 31st here in East Brunswick. The Board and Foundation are interested in feedback from our counselors and what issues are important to them. The group encouraged the Foundation to sponsor a meeting that will also include a speaker for an hour of renewal credit. Other topics discussed included: access to CADC educational  coursework; providing an electronic forum for counselors; and working with groups related to the addiction field. The meeting will be held from 10-Noon at 1200 Tices Lane, Suite 206, East Brunswick, NJ 08816. Co-Occurring Specialists and Associates! There will be an opportunity for all CODS (formerly CMS) to be "test exempt" when upgrading to an international certification.This "Grandfathering" will allow all existing CODS and CODA's to be "test exempt" when obtaining the "Certified Co-Occurring Professional - Diplomate" for existing CODS at the Masters Level and the standard Co-Occurring Disorders Professional at the Bachelor's level. The granfathering period will be announced in next months newsletter along with the link to the Grandfathering application. Mandatory Renewal  Course - September 10th! We have had many requests to offer this course to help counselors qualify for their LCADC or CADC renewal. Please refer to the statement by The DCA- ADCC on our home page regarding this requirement at  www.certbd.com.  Courses will require the pre-registration fee of $75 payable to the Foundation for Addiction and Behavioral Health Professionals, Inc. Please send a check or money order to pre-register as space is limited.  Please complete the Mandatory Renewal Course Registration Form. The course will be held at our offices in East Brunswick.  Additional courses will be added as needed. Please visit our website for directions to our office. Board Meeting Results! Want to know if your application was approved at the last Board Meeting? Check our mid-September, December, March and June E-Newsletters. We will post the results shortly after the Board Meeting. This will be a convienient way for you to find out your status. You will receive your certificate approximately 30 days after the meeeting.   Women's Treatment Specialist Training  - Fall Schedule 2008! The fall schedule for the Women's Treatment Training Specialist specialty credential has been developed with courses being held at The Certification Board office in East Brunswick  and also at Maryville, Inc. located in Tunersville, New Jersey. The registration fee for each course is $75.00 or you may register for the full series of all five courses for $300.00. Instructors-  Let Approved Providers know your Board Approved Courses! Responding to requests from the Instructors, as well as the Approved Provider Agencies, this Newsletter will feature a section where Approved Initial LCADC/CADC trainers will be listed along with submitted contact information, course title and number.  This will help link Agencies and Instructors together.  As a reminder, initial LCADC/CADC courses must be taught at an Approved Provider Agency. The fee will be $100 per 12 month period.
The New CPS Manual is complete! The Certification Board, thanks to the hard work of our CPS Advisory Group, has updated the initial certification coursework to reflect the new national Job Task Analysis published this past year by the IC&RC. Click here to view.
